Canada Participated with Right-Wing Paramilitaries in Haitian Coup

Canada took an active role planning and participating in the 2004 coup against Haitian President Jean Bertrand Aristide, with Canadian soldiers joining local paramilitaries in the coup and RCMP training the police forces of the new coup government.

Aristide threatened imperialists interests in Haiti by instituting a minimum wage in the country and in 2003, Canada hosted a conference, the “Ottawa Initiative on Haiti”, where the coup was agreed upon and planned.

Garment makers rely on the vicious exploitation of Haitian workers to make massive profits and Canada is willing to kill people in the third world and overthrow democratically-elected governments to protect these profits.
